Organ Donation talk at Santivan, Chicholi Gram panchayat, Nagpur |
On January 27, 2025, Mr. Bulu J. Behera, Transplant Coordinator at the MOHAN Foundation, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at Santivan Chicholi Grampanchayat, Nagpur, upon the invitation of Dr. Ankit Rout, the NSS Head of Moresh College, Nagpur. The program, organized for the National Service Scheme (NSS) students, was held at Santivani Chicholi, Grampanchayat. Mr. Behera provided a comprehensive explanation of organ donation, focusing on the legal and ethical processes involved. He discussed the concepts of brain death and natural death, highlighting which organs and tissues can be donated in each case. He also covered the age criteria for organ donation, the critical time factors involved, and provided information about hand transplants. Mr. Behera emphasized the importance of the Organ Transplant Act of 1994 and explained the process of body donation. He outlined the time limitations for organ transplantation and provided in-depth details about organ and body donation procedures. Additionally, he addressed the cultural and social aspects of organ donation, underlining the significance of organizations such as NOTTO, ROTTO, SOTTO, and ZTCC in the organ donation process. Furthermore, Mr. Behera encouraged the NSS students to watch the film Aye Zindagi, which offers valuable insights into organ donation. At the conclusion of the session, students had the opportunity to ask questions. Some of the key queries included:
