On 23^rd October, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation and transplantation was held for the parents, teachers and members of various clubs of A U P School, Kalliad, Kannur, Kerala. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the school took the initiative to organize the session and spoke to the school Management to get permission. Members of the PTA invited Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS) to deliver a talk on deceased donor organ donation and transplantation programme in Kerala.

The welcome speech was delivered by Mr. A. V. Unnikrishnan, Headmaster, A U P School, Kalliad. Following which; Mr. Anand Babu, President, PTA, A U P School, Kalliad addressed the gathering. Mr. Aneesh P V, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation – deputed at Trivandrum Medical College, Trivandrum made a presentation and educated the audience about the issue. He spoke about deceased organ donation; difference between brain death, cardiac death and coma; about Mrithasanjeevani and KNOS website; and about the Transplantation of Human Organs (THO) Act. 

Around 80 members participated and all of them picked the donor card. After the session a few members promised to promote the cause by spreading awareness in their regions. Finally; the vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Yasodha, Faculty, A U P School, Kalliad, Kannur.
