On 17^th October, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation was conducted for the wives of Air Force officers and airmen at SNCOs Mess, Vayusena, Tughlakabad, New Delhi. Dr. Muneet Sahi and Dr. Sourabh Sharma, Transplant Coordinators’, MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR represented the Foundation at the session.

Sq Leader R Majumdar, Joint Secretary, Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA) took the initiative to organise this session as part of ‘Air Force Week’. The Air Force Week is celebrated the whole of October in all the airbases across the country to mark the Air Force Day that falls on 8^th October, 2013. This year it was the 81^st Anniversary of the Indian Air Force. Sq Leader Majumdar took formal permission from Ms. Shitanshu Aggarwal, President, AFWWA to have this session on organ donation.

Dr. Sahi delivered the talk in Hindi and she focused on the concept of organ donation, the Transplantation of Human Organs (THO) Act and also emphasised on what each one of them could do to help promote the cause. After the talk there were queries raised about kidney donation and transplantation since two of the serving personnel’s relatives’ were in need of a kidney.

It was a small group of 25 participants. Totally 33 fliers with detailed information about organ donation and 49 donor cards were distributed. A few of the participants picked up donor cards for their family members.

The session concluded with Ms. Aggarwal felicitating the MOHAN Foundation team.
