Organ & Tissue Donation Sensitization session for Theological Students, National Council of Churches in India

On November 16, 2024, National Council of Churches in India, who is studying Christianity, visited the MOHAN Foundation’s Nagpur office to learn the importance of Organ and Tissue donation and the process of pledging to donate. Total 12 students, Phoebe Huang, Andhra Pradesh, Sujeeva Nathala from Nagaland, Sashnita Savangi from Odisha & from states Madyapradehs, Manipur, Telangana, Panjab, Assam were eager to understand the significance of Deceased organ donation.  

MF Project Manager Veena Wathore provided the insightful presentations on Transplantation of Human Organs (THO) Act, educating the students on the legal framework surrounding organ donation in India. These students gained knowledge about Living, Dead & Brain dead condition donation. She also clarified the misconceptions & myths surrounding Organ donation.

She also introduced the various e-learning courses offered by the MOHAN Foundation to further educate the community during their preaching.

Ms. Bhagyashree Nighot, MF Transplant coordinator & Grief Counsellor, provided a copy of current ITN, which provided additional resources and information on the topic along with Organ Donation Pledge forms & Donor card with information brochures.   The session aimed to deepen the students’ understanding of organ donation and inspire them to spread awareness in their respective communities about the life-saving potential of organ donation.
