Organ Donation Awareness Stall at Super Speciality Hospital, Tukdoji Square, Nagpur |
On November 22, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation organized an Organ Donation Awareness Stall at the Super Speciality Hospital, Tukdoji Square, Nagpur. Coordinated by Mr. Bulu J. Behera, Transplant Coordinator at MOHAN Foundation, the event was held under the invitation of Dr. Sushama Thakare, Officer on Special Duty. The stall, placed near the OPD for kidney patients and their families, aimed to educate visitors about organ and tissue donation. The stall featured various materials such as donor cards, banners, standees, and helpline pamphlets to raise awareness. Key topics covered included the concept of organ and tissue donation, ethical and legal considerations, the role of the MOHAN Foundation, financial support for organ transplants, and additional information on body donation and hand/leg transplants. Mr. Behera explained which organs can be donated after natural and brain death, the time factors involved, and the age criteria for donation. The stall has visited by 42 visitors. Total of 3 individuals signed consent forms for organ donation on the spot, while others expressed interest in signing up online. Visitors raised several questions, including those about required documents for a kidney transplant, the MOHAN Foundation’s purpose, and the availability of bone marrow transplants in Nagpur. The MOHAN Foundation is grateful to Dr. Sushama Thakare for allowing this important awareness stall to be set up during the kidney patients' OPD. This initiative has significantly contributed to spreading awareness and encouraging more people to consider organ donation |
