On November 25 and 26, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted awareness sessions on body, organ, and eye donation at the Dental College, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal. The sessions were led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer, MOHAN Foundation.

The sessions were organized with the approval of Prof. Sanjib Singh Nepram, Medical Superintendent of RIMS, and Dr. B. Praveen Reddy, Principal of the Dental College at RIMS. Ms. Chongtham Pritam, a Medical Social Worker involved in renal transplant coordination at RIMS, ensured smooth execution and active participation. The first session was held for the teaching faculty of the Dental College, while the second session was conducted for the non-teaching staff.

Ms. Monica Devi began each session by introducing the MOHAN Foundation and explaining its objectives and mission to promote organ donation in society.

Key points covered during the sessions, supported by a PowerPoint presentation, included:

• Types of organ donation and eligibility criteria for donors.

• The status of organ donation in India and Manipur.

• Common myths and facts about organ donation.

• Differences between circulatory death, brain death, and coma.

• The importance of the donor card.

• Steps to pledge or register for organ donation.

• Advances in organ transplantation, including hand transplants.

During the first session, Dr. Reddy shared his personal experience as a donor, encouraging participants to discuss organ donation with their families. He also displayed his donor certificate, earning applause and appreciation from the audience for his generosity.

The sessions concluded with Q&A segments, where Ms. Monica addressed participants' questions and clarified their doubts.

A total of nearly 80 participants attended the two sessions, actively engaging and gaining valuable insights about organ donation. Two participants were inspired to pledge their organs through the NOTTO website.
