On September 20, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation held an informative awareness session on organ donation at the MRD department of Apollo Hospital. This session was designed to educate and engage the hospital staff about the critical importance of organ donation and its processes. Fifteen staff members from the MRD department attended, demonstrating a keen interest in understanding this vital topic.

The session was led by Dr. Gauri, the head of the MRD department, who emphasized the role of healthcare professionals in promoting organ donation awareness. Ms. Prarthana, a Public Education Counsellor from the MOHAN Foundation, delivered an in-depth presentation on the distinctions between brainstem death and cardiac death. She explained the medical and ethical aspects of organ donation, highlighting how understanding these concepts is crucial for healthcare providers.

Throughout the session, Ms. Prarthana addressed various questions from the staff, fostering an interactive environment. Notable inquiries included whether a person can donate their skin while living to assist burn patients and whether the organ donation pledge form supports actual donations. Ms. Prarthana provided thorough answers, clarifying any misconceptions and reinforcing the importance of informed consent in organ donation.

At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Gauri expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MOHAN Foundation for organizing this valuable educational opportunity. She emphasized the need for ongoing training and awareness in the medical field to promote organ donation and save lives.
