On Tamil Nadu Organ Donation Day, MOHAN Foundation conducted awareness program on Organ Donation on September 23, 2024.

Members of the Youth Red Cross of MMM College of Health Sciences participated in the awareness talk. Ms. Arshiya Fathima H (Helpline Counsellor & CEE, MOHAN Foundation) was the resource person and Mr Sharanraj V & Mr Stephen Joy (Interns from MMM College of Health Sciences) joined the session.

Around 60 students and faculty attended the session. Mr Sharanraj V & Mr Stephen Joy distributed information brochures. The program was started with a welcome address and speaker introduction by a senior student. Ms. Arshiya Fathima H began the session with the story of Master Hitendran and his family – the reason for the Tamil Nadu Organ Donation Day. This was followed by a talk by Mr Sharanraj V. He explained the concepts, law, process for pledging organs and other relevant facts about organ donation, skin donation and eye donation and narrated a donor story.

A video explaining brain stem death was screened to ensure that the students have greater clarity on its concepts.

Ms Arshiya conducted a Tamil movie fun quiz session. Students actively engaged in the session and answered questions. They enjoyed the session. Ms. Arshiya gave a glimpse of the courses offered by MOHAN foundation. She spoke on the importance of trained ambassadors and transplant coordinators.
