Independence Day Awareness Campaign on Organ Donation for Taxi and Auto-Rickshaw Drivers, Thane, Mumbai |
On August 15, 2024, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with Kidney Warrior, organized a comprehensive awareness campaign for taxi and auto-rickshaw drivers in celebration of Independence Day. This event was initiated by Ms. Vasundhara Raghavan of Kidney Warrior foundation. The initiative began with the flag hoisting ceremony, during which Ms. Jaya introduced the concept of organ donation to the drivers. She provided a thorough explanation of what organ donation entails, who can be a donor, and the significance of the cause. To engage the audience, Ms. Jaya shared compelling stories highlighting the impact of organ donation. As part of the campaign, stickers promoting organ donation were distributed and affixed to taxis and auto-rickshaws. Ms. Vasundara spoke about the importance of maintaining a healthy diet for kidney health, providing practical advice on how to keep kidneys functioning optimally. Our organ donation ambassadors and volunteers Mrs Jayalakshmi Krishnan and Mr Krishnan Sivaramakrishnan participated in the initiative by enthusiastically motivating Taxi and Auto drivers to affix the sticker on the back of their vehicles.
They effectively communicated the benefits of organ donation and encouraged drivers to spread awareness.
The collaborative effort aimed not only to inform the drivers about organ donation but also to integrate the message into their daily routines, thus fostering a broader community understanding of this vital cause. The event successfully combined educational talks with practical engagement, reinforcing the importance of organ donation and healthy living.
