Awareness Session at Government Secondary School Mataur Punjab

On the occasion of World Organ Donation Day, On (13th August 2024) MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Amol Kaur Program Officer Adolescent & Young people Centre For Catalyzing Change to conduct an awareness talk for the students of Government Secondary School Mataur Punjab.

C3 is a non-governmental organization registered under the societies Registration Act 1860. Currently, C3 works directly in 10 states of India- Assam, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Haryana, Jharkhand, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, West Bengal.

Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3), formerly known as Centre for Development. Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3), formerly known as Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA), India, started working in India in 1987. In the last 30 years, C3 has emerged as a key change-making organization focused on improving the conditions of girls and women in the country.

Mrs. Vandana School Incharge, addressed the students and gave a brief introduction on Organ Donation to their students

Students were given an introduction & presentation on how important is Organ donation and tissue donation and too many people waiting for transplant by Ms. Neha Sharma

In this talk she explained the following points: -

  • Organ Donation Statistics in India
  • Myths about organ donation
  • Difference between natural death and brain death
  • Organ donation and its types – Live & Deceased donation
  • Importance of Donor card
  • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

 A short informative film on brain death was also shown and the importance of family consent in the process of organ donation was explained to the students.

It was indeed and amazing session with the students keen interest to do more on the same. All the students were highly moved and said they will come forth to make it a success in Chandigarh. Students did applaud in the end for the efforts taken by MOHAN Foundation. At the end of the session, Ms. Amol Kaur Program Officer Adolescent & Young people, gave a vote of thanks. She said that the session was very interesting and informative.

Close to 45 participants attended the session.
