On July 31, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation set up an information desk at Dr. Nath’s Clinic in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai, as part of the inauguration function organized by Dr. Deoanand Nath. Coordinated by Dr. Nath, the stall featured Ms. Prarthana, who conducted an awareness talk and provided valuable information on organ donation. The session covered a range of topics including the basics of organ donation and eligibility, live and deceased donation, and the types of organs and tissues that can be donated. It also addressed different types of death, the distinction between coma and brain death, and the causes of brain death. Information was provided on organ retrieval and transplantation time factors, as well as contact points for organ donation. Key details about age limits for donation, roles of NOTTO, ROTTO, SOTTO, and ZTCC, the Organ Transplant Act 1994, hand and leg transplants, transplant priority lists, and MLC versus non-MLC cases were discussed. Additionally, myths and facts about organ donation, historical perspectives, and the importance of donor cards were highlighted. Approximately 55 doctors and members of the general public attended the event, and 22 individuals pledged to donate their organs. The MOHAN Foundation also encouraged attendees to use their website and helpline for further information and support.
