Organ Donation Awareness Session Conducted for Nursing Staff of B & C Ward at Apollo Hospital, Navi Mumbai

On July 2, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted an insightful organ donation awareness session at the 6th-floor Nursing Department of Apollo Hospital's B & C ward in Navi Mumbai. Organized by Mrs. Babita, the in-charge sister, and facilitated by Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, Public Education Counsellor from MOHAN Foundation, the session aimed to educate and sensitize critical care nursing staff about the importance and process of organ donation.

The session covered essential topics related to organ donation, including an introduction to MOHAN Foundation, types of death relevant to organ donation (brain death and circulatory death), and the distinction between brain death and coma, emphasizing the irreversibility of brain death. Ms. Dwivedi also elucidated the differences between living and deceased donors, highlighting the scenarios under which each type of donation occurs. Additionally, common myths surrounding organ donation were debunked with factual information.

The session witnessed active participation from 15 nursing staff members who expressed appreciation for Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi's informative and inspiring presentation. Many attendees were moved to pledge their commitment to organ donation, acknowledging its potential to save lives and improve patient outcomes.
