On 23^rd June, 2024, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Commandant, Col AS Randhawa, 1 Chandigarh Girls Battalion NCC Chandigarh, to conduct an awareness session for their NCC Cadets and J.C.Os at Govt. Post Graduate College Sector- 42 Chandigarh. Around 200 Senior Girls Cadets from various Colleges of Chandigarh and 5 Officers participated in the program.

 Ms. Neha Sharma introduced herself to the students and after that she asked the questions from students to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation. Telling them about how important is Organ Donation and the need for organ donors has never been greater.

She then explained the concept of organ donation to the participants. She discussed with them organs that can be donated after natural death and brain death and asked the cadets about their perceptions of donation after death. She also discussed the MOHAN Foundation's role and how youth can serve as ambassadors for the cause of organ donation.

Ms. Neha Sharma then explained the current status of organ donation in India. She also explained the basic concepts of organ donation and transplantation with the help of a PowerPoint presentation.

• What is organ donation and its need in the society.

• Who can be an organ donor?

• Explanation about live and deceased donor

• Organs that can be donated during life and after death

• Brain death

• Eye donation and steps required to preserve cornea after death.

• Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994

• Role of MOHAN Foundation

• What an individual can do to contribute for this noble cause

• Myths and facts about organ donation

• Difference between coma and brain death

 

The awareness talk ended with a vote of thanks by Major Chhavi Pareek. She encouraged the Cadets to be aware and spread the message of organ donation and also share their wish with their families.
