On June 23, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted an enlightening organ donation awareness session at AIM Academy in Chembur, Navi Mumbai. The session was led by Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, who introduced MOHAN Foundation as a dedicated NGO advocating for deceased organ donation over many years, highlighting the Foundation's impactful initiatives. Ms. Prarthana provided a comprehensive understanding of cardiac death versus brain death, offering detailed insights into the organs and tissues viable for donation in each scenario. She also introduced the audience to recent advancements like hand transplantation and emphasized the significance of tissue donation, including skin, eyes, and bones. Illustrating the power of organ donation through compelling transplant success stories and examples of green corridors, Ms. Prarthana captured the participants' attention and underscored the life-saving impact of donation. Addressing prevalent myths surrounding organ donation, Ms. Prarthana skillfully debunked misconceptions with factual information, particularly those commonly held by families of deceased donors. She stressed the importance of discussing organ donation within families and the significance of carrying a donor card at all times for those willing to pledge their organs. The session was attended by approximately 133 students, reflecting a strong interest and support for the cause of organ donation at AIM Academy.
