The students of 11 and 12 grade of Anna Adarsh School, Chennai were given an exposure to the Concepts of Organ Donation and Transplantation on 12 August 2024 in their premises. MOHAN Foundation’s Dr Hemal Kanvinde was the resource person. Around 80 students from science stream, 20 parents, 10 staff members attended the session. All students were given an information brochure and green ribbons. The lecture hall was decorated with posters on organ donation.
Mrs. Sasirekha B , the Principal of the school honoured the guests and introduced the topic.
Dr Hemal Kanvinde gave a talk on the concepts of organ donation, what, when and how of donation. The concept of Brain Death was explained. She also spoke of the myths in the public, how to register as an organ donor. She also organised a quiz for the students.
This was followed by a motivational talk by Mrs Rajeev Inspector of Police Anna Nagar Women’s Police station. She told the students the story of donation of Kannappa Nayar. She also motivated them to work well and hard to achieve to the best of their abilities.
Around 8 parents and teachers picked a donor card. MOHAN Foundation thanks the management of the school and the teachers for the arrangements and hospitality.
