On 2nd Oct 2021, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Ms. Simran Arora for conducting session for their members on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Dr Jimmy held an awareness session and introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. She then introduced the concept of Organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was new topic for the public. She also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes). She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved.
Dr Jimmy then explained statistics of Organ Donation & why it is the need of the hour and where India stood on the global map of organ donation. Then she discussed various myths and beliefs which led to low organ donation rate in the country. Also she invited participants to join in our volunteering program. Details of Organ donation Helpline No. 1800 103 7100 was also shared. The members were encouraged to discuss these concepts with their parents.
About 40 people attended the awareness session. We thank Ms. Simran Arora and Rotract Club of Navi Mumbai for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
