Virtual Organ Donation Awareness session for the employees of Union Bank of India, LIC Housing and Blue Dart

  • On July 24, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted a virtual organ donation awareness session for the employees of Union Bank of India, LIC Housing and Blue Dart. Organized by the Dr Reddy Foundation for Health Education (DRFHE), this session was part of a series planned for the week for their corporate social responsibility partners. Dr Hemal Kanvinde, the Quality Assurance Officer at MOHAN Foundation, Chennai, served as the resource person.

     

    The session began with Dr Hemal introducing the work of the MOHAN Foundation. The audience was provided with an overview of the need for organ donation, who can donate and what organs can be donated. The concept of brain death was elucidated through a video presentation. She also touched upon common perceptions and myths surrounding organ donation. Additionally, she shared stories of organ donors and explained the process for pledging to donate organs.

     

    Dr Hemal explained the significance of proactive discussions within families regarding organ donation. After the talk, queries about processes inhospitable at the time of donation, interstate sharing or organs were asked and answered.

     

    Dr Hemal concluded with a call to action, urging everyone to proudly become organ donors and make a pledge and thanked the organizers for initiating this discussion.

     

    Approximately 50 participants attended the session.
