A Walkathon was organized by Vikas Tarangini – Youth, the social arm of the Trust run by Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji and MOHAN Foundation to create awareness about organ donation among public, specially, youth. The youth came together and gave warm welcome to the New Year by supporting to a noble cause “Organ Donation”. The 3K walk started from People’s plaza, Necklace Road to P.V.Gyan Boomi. The walk was flagged off by Sri Sri Vrathadhara Jeeyar Swamiji.
Around 5000 youth walked with a sense of huge social responsibility. The students from different colleges and schools, such as Gokaraju Rangaraju College of Engineering, Vardhaman College of Engineering, Keshav Memorial Junior College, Bandari Srinivas Institute of Technology, Bhaskara colleges of Engineering, Jagruti Degree & PG College, Jahnavi Group of Institutions, J.B. Group of Educational Institutions, Mahaveer Institute of Sciences of Technology, Anjamma Aagireddy College of Engineering for Women, Vanita Mahavidyalaya Varadhi Engineering College, Shantiniketan School, Little Scholars school, Bharat Scouts & Guides, NCC Cadets, Maxivision Eye Hospital, Yashoda Hospital, Global Hospital, Innova Hospital, Ramayamma International Eye Bank, Vasan Eye Bank, Lions Club of Hyderabad East Jeeyar Trust's School for the Visually Challenged, Youth in Action, Friends' Association for a Change and other NGOs participated and demonstrated full support for the cause.
During the Walk, the air was filled with slogans such as "We support organ donation", "Together We care" and "Donate organs- Save Lives".
The Walk concluded at P.V. Gyan Bhoomi around 9.45 am. With the arrival of Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, the audience was enthralled and waited eagerly for his blessings. Swamiji spoke extensively about organ donation and encouraged the participants to support the cause and requested all adult devotees to pledge their organs. He asked all the children to memorise MOHAN Foundation's Toll free number and call them should they have any questions about organ donation.
The event concluded at 12 noon by singing the Nation by National Anthem.
