Symposium on Deceased Organ Donation and Transplant: Life Beyond Death conducted at Hotel Radisson Blue, Nasik

  • On 16th July 2023, a symposium on Deceased Organ Donation was conducted at Radisson Blue Hotel, Nasik.Dr Sunil Shroff- Managing Trustee from MOHAN Foundation was the Chief Guest of the Symposium and began the session by a lamp lighting ceremony. The symposium was conducted with an objective of augmenting organ donation in the city of Nasik. Several notable dignitaries spoke at the occasion.

     

    Dr. Mohan Patel began the session by throwing light on the Current Transplant Scenario in the city of Nashik and Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram- Country Director- MOHAN Foundation gave a detailed overview on approaching families for Organ Donation and highlighted the different stages of grief counselling. Dr Georgi Abraham virtually highlighted the Tamil Nadu Model of Deceased Organ Donor Transplant and how to replicate the same in the city of Nasik.

     

    Dr. Sunil Shroff highlighted the Organ donation scarcity and elucidated the legalities associated with organ donation. The session was followed by a Panel discussion on challenges increasing deceased donor organ Transplantation in North Maharashtra. The panellists included eminent personalities like Dr. Vivek Kute, Dr. Atul Mulay, Dr Sunil Shroff, Georgi Abraham, Dr. Nagesh Aghor and Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram.The symposium also focussed on role of ICU physicians in Optimising of Brain-dead donor and Multi Organ Harvesting in Deceased organ donation and also highlighted organ allocation policies in the state of Maharashtra.

     

    Close to 100 intensivists and transplant professional attended the workshop.
