Eight day of August 2017 was a wonderful day for the higher secondary students in Schram Academy as they were introduced to this great cause called Organ Donation. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde and Mr. Jayaprakash Daniel from MOHAN Foundation were in charge of this awareness program. About 200 students of 11th standard from arts, science and commerce streams attended the program with their teachers.
This program began with a formal introduction by Ms. Serita Christina, Registrar of Schram Academy followed by awareness talk on organ donation by Dr. Hemal. This awareness talk covered very light but same time serious topics in order to give big picture about organ donation. Students were given idea on why, what, when and how organ donation and causes and myths behind organ donation. Dr. Hemal’s presentation made the participants to clearly understand the differences between coma and brain death which is one of the important component of this program.
After the serious talk, small games were conducted as motion of confidence among students. This session included games such as ‘Missing Letter’ and ‘Blurred Images’ based on terms and notation used and celebrities pledged for Organ Donation (vice versa). Students actively participated in this session and proved their understanding level. This is the ultimate aim of conducting program.
MOHAN Foundation gave small prizes to the winners as an acknowledgement of active participation in games conducted and finally Mr. Jayaprakash Daniel read a poem on Organ Donation written by Robert. N. West ‘Life.....Pass It On’ which made the tender minds to work on passing this good news at all levels.
