On November 4, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at R Ward of Apollo Hospital, Belapur, Navi Mumbai. The session was led by Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, who served as the key resource person. She began by introducing the MOHAN Foundation and its mission to promote organ donation in India. Ms. Prarthana engaged the audience with a detailed presentation and an interactive discussion, emphasizing the critical need for organ donation in India.
During the session, various important topics were covered, including the concept of organ donation and transplantation, the types of death (cardiac death and brain death), and the processes involved in both deceased and live organ donation. She also explained the procedures for skin and bone donation, addressing common myths and facts about organ donation to help dispel misconceptions. The session highlighted the significant role of the MOHAN Foundation in promoting awareness and encouraging organ donation across the country.
The session was attended by nursing staff and faculty members from the hospital. The participants were highly motivated by the presentation and showed strong support for the cause by pledging to become organ donors. A total of 11 individuals pledged their organs and received donor cards. The session saw an attendance of approximately 17 participants.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Ms. Viji, the in-charge sister, for inviting the MOHAN Foundation and for her ongoing support in promoting the cause of organ donation. Her efforts were instrumental in making this sensitization programme a success.
