On 19th August, 2013 a sensitization programme was conducted for the nurses from the Neurology ward, Ward No. 11, Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH), Chennai. Mr. Ananth R and Ms. Sunitha A T, Transplant Coordinators’, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai conducted the session.
Mr. Ananth in his presentation focused on the following topics: about the importance of organ donation, what organs can be donated before and after death, who can be a donor, what is natural/cardiac death, what is brain death, what is the different between brain death and coma, what are the organs and the tissues that can be donated after brain death, importance of signing a donor card and the organ donation protocol followed at RGGGH.
Totally 11 nurses participated in the programme and all of them pledged their organs by signing the donor card.
