On 21st Dec 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Hiranandani Estate Senior Citizens Foundation at Thane West for giving awareness about the Organ Donation to their Society members. Dr Jimmy and Mr Nitin Tambe represented MOHAN Foundation for giving awareness.
Dr Jimmy held an awareness session and introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. She then introduced the concept of Organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was new topic for the public. She also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home which caught attention of the crowd. She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved. She then addressed about the myths about Organ Donation public has & how we can debunk them by illustrating the real facts about Organ Donation. Also they were invited to join in our volunteering program. Details of Organ donation Helpline No. 1800 103 7100 was also shared.
About 60 people attended the awareness session. About 15 pledges were taken & few were filled online. We thank Mr Narendra Sahu, Mr S J Ahuja, Mr D P Tripathi (President of Hiranandani Estate Senior Citizens Foundation) for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation
