  • On March 02, 2019, MOHAN Foundation organized its annual awareness event, "SAMARTHAN 2019 – A Sufiyana Night with Nizami Bandhu’’ at Zorba, MG Road, New Delhi. The objective of the event was to create awareness around organ donation as well as to raise funds that would go towards the Foundation’s endeavor to ensure that organs are available for all those who are waiting for a life-saving transplant.

The main highlight of the event was the release of the compendium titled, ‘’You are the Clay, You are the Potter’’- a tribute to the Transplant Coordinators of India. The compendium is a collection of inspiring donor stories from Transplant Coordinators from hospitals across the country and stories of real heroes who are making efforts to boost organ donation. It has imbibed the essence of the quality of work done by transplant coordinators throughout the country.

The event began with Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director, MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR welcoming the guests and inviting Dr. Sunil Shroff, Managing Trustee, MOHAN Foundation and supporters of the Foundation to release the Compendium. At the event, the Foundation also felicitated deceased donation Transplant Coordinators from public and private hospitals across NCR.

During the evening, the renowned Nizami Bandhu regaled the audience with their soulful Sufi music.

The Foundation also showcased an exhibition titled “Life before Ashes” featuring human organ installations made from a mix of real human ashes and mud. The underlying message was simple but powerful – ‘What have become ashes could have been another human’s heart or kidney if only the organs were donated.’ Along with Ashes exhibition, another exhibit sharing testimonials of donor families was also showcased. The testimonials conveyed how despite their grief, most donor families feel positive about having donated their loved ones organs.

Leading doctors from most major transplant centres in NCR, distinguished personalities of the cause and supporters of the Foundation attended the event and enjoyed the evening. The sufi music made the night memorable.

The main sponsors of the event were – Ethos watch Boutiques, Dr. Lalpath Labs, Dalmia Bharat, Intas Pharmaceuticals and Alfa Cotech Industries.

Close to 300 guests attended the event.
