Rotaract Club of Jeppiaar College of Engineering organized a cultural event named "Thamizhi" on April 13, 2024. In this event Rotaract Club of 22 colleges over 80 km radius participated. The students, in the good will of promoting social causes, organized an awareness session on eye donation.
The event began with inaugural speech from students of Jeppiaar College welcoming students and facultys from the participating colleges. This was , followed by a series of Tamil traditional performing arts like: Parai attam, Therukuttu, singing, musicals, dance and poetry recitation.
Mr Ganesh C, Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation was given an opportunity to engage the audience. He spoke about MOHAN Foundation and their activities. He elaborated the process of eye donation, time factor, effective usage of organ donation helpline 1800 103 7100and pledging as donor. During the talk Ms Yamini, MOHAN Foundation, distributed information brochures.
Post the event the students form human-chain in the structure of human eye in the college ground in an attempt to create a World Record. over 1142 students participated and 214 students pledged and picked their donor cards. A few students came to Mr Ganesh and clarified their doubts regarding eye donation. Quoting recent donations by film actors Daniel Bajai and Puneet Kumar, Mr Ganeh explained the value of donation.
