MOHAN Foundation had conducted a series of sensitization sessions for the staff of Sir CV Raman Government Hospital, Bengaluru during the month of July. In continuation with this on 13th August, the Organ Donation Day a Rangoli competition and awareness session were organized for the staff of the hospital.
Mrs. Hemavathi BN, and Mr. Marulappa LN Transplant Coordinators and Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS, Project Manager of MOHAN Foundation were the resource persons.
Staff of the hospital enthusiastically and actively participated and enjoyed the Rangoli competition which was conducted in the morning. An awareness talk was delivered to the staff and outpatients visiting the hospital.
In her talk, Mrs. Ranjini spoke about MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision; the concept of organ and tissue donation; types of death - cardiac death and brain death; brain death declaration; and procedure of deceased and living organ donation. Mrs. Ranjini then elaborated on the procedure of eye, skin, and bone donation; briefly explained the role of Jeevasarthakathe; touched upon the transplant law and the importance of a donor card. Myths and facts and barriers to organ donation were highlighted as well
Among the 230 members who attended the session, 196 of them signed up as organ donors and collected donor cards. This was followed by prize distribution for the Rangoli competition which was judged by Medical Superintendent and the Matron of the hospital. Four entrants were awarded prizes for their outstanding efforts.
