Ms Preetha P and Ms Vedhika N, Interns of MMM College of Health Sciences and Organ Donation Ambassadors conducted a 10 day campaign on organ donation and publicity of the helpline number in the streets of Chennai. They approached road side vendors, small shop owners & customers, flower and vegetable sellers and auto rickshaw drivers.
Everyone was given an information brochure containing the helpline number and one to one interaction for clarification of doubts. There were many myths in the mind of the public. This interaction helped them to understand the concept of organ donation in a positive manner. A few people promised to place the sticker with helpline number on the vehicle and in their shop.
In all it was a learning experience to interact with the public and understand their perceptions.
