Organ donation awareness talk via moderated conference call across all offices of Anarock nationwide

  • On September 18, 2019 MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation via moderated conference call across all offices of Anarock nationwide. Ms. Gagan Singh Chief Evangelist – Culture, Anarock took the initiative to organize the session. She also coordinated the whole process and the logistics related to it. Dr. Muneet Kaur Sahi was the resource person for the session and Ms. Shafia Hameed accompanied her.

    A week before the talk, a pre-awareness questionnaire was sent via mailer to all the Anarock employees. Close to 46 people participated in it. The results of the survey were both surprising and encouraging.

    The session began sharp at 1030 hours and 45 lines both on field and off field came alive. The offices that got connected were Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Noida, Ghaziabad and Dubai. Ms. Gagan Singh moderated the session from the Gurugram office. In her opening statement she spoke about the Firm’s CSR activities that are undertaken to remind themselves that life is not only about revenue targets and incentives. At Anarock they follow the Firm’s core principle of Values over Value. She then introduced MOHAN Foundation and the work it does in the area of organ donation and invited Dr. Muneet to begin the talk.

    Dr. Muneet explained the basic concepts of organ donation, the need for it in today’s time when many people are suffering from end-stage organ failure, laws and legal processes involved in organ donation, why India lags behind European countries that have higher organ donation rate and reasons for the huge gap between demand and supply of organs by means of a simple PowerPoint presentation.

    When explaining the concept of brain death, a short video was shown on the said subject. After watching the video, the audience had better clarity about brain death and that it is different from coma. Various myths around organ donation with their corresponding reality check were also discussed. 

    Post session, lines were opened for queries and participants from Bangalore, Mumbai and Noida asked questions relating to graft rejection, organ allocation, how to sign up as an organ donor, is there any contact between recipient and donor families and is there any corruption involved in deceased organ donation. All the queries were taken up and addressed by Dr. Muneet in a professional manner.

    Close to 200 people were accessed through the conference call session.
