To observe World Organ Donation Day, on 27th November 2012, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct an organ donation awareness programme for the employees of “Shoppers Stop” showroom at Saligramam. The employees gathered at the cafeteria for the session. An organ donation awareness film was screened for them to get an exposure to the issues in organ donation. Ms. Jessi, Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation, explained the following to the employees:
*Organ donation concepts
*What is brain death?
*What is coma?
*Difference between natural death and brain death
More than 80 employees attended the session and 15 supported the noble cause by picking up the donor card. Few of the employees gave a feedback saying that they were aware only about blood and eye donation and not about organ donation, and that the session was an eye opener for them. They also said that they would spread this message to their relatives, friends and neighbours too.
