On 11th April 2023, organ donation awareness activities were arranged by JJ Hospital and MOHAN foundation. Mr. Jagdish Borude, transplant coordinator, MOHAN foundation along with JJ Hospital staff coordinated for the event. The organ donation awareness campaign was initiated by Medical Education and Drugs Department, Government of Maharashtra. As a part of it, the launch event of organ donation awareness campaign, on 11th April, JJ Hospital and MOHAN foundation jointly coordinated for the event to be successful. The Major event involved Poster competition, Rangoli Competition, Role play etc.
Ms Jaya Jairam coordinated for the T shirts to be printed for organ donation event and to be used during this event. The aim of this talk was to educate Hospital staff and patients and their relatives about organ donation and to provide them with the importance of organ donation.
Dr Pallavi Sapale, Dean of JJ Hospital was the chairperson of this event. Dr Sanjay Surase, superintendent, JJ Hospital was present. Dr Deepak Joshi, HOD, Anatomy department, Dr Chhaya Rajguru, HOD, PSM Department, Dr Ashwini Jadhav, Veena Gandheriwal, Mr. Patil, Mr Arun Rathod, Mr Rajendra Pujari, all nursing Staff and Students, MBBS students and general public were present for this event. Forensic Department gave talk on organ donation. They introduced MOHAN foundation and its role in organ donation and its activities, and gave talk on organ donation and basic concepts of organ donation. Around 250 people attended the session.
Following topics were discussed on organ donation:
Role play and Street play were performed by Nursing students and staffs and MBBS students. The main theme of each play was narrate the importance of organ donation and convey message to public about organ donation.
The participants were awarded by T shirts and felicitated by Dean Dr Pallavi Sapale and superintendent Dr Sanjay Surase. Also the senior staff of JJ hospital were felicitated for their work in health care sector. Dr Pallavi Sapale in her speech mentioned that, " How an organ donor can save the lives of 8 persons and why organ donation is important. She further said, what happen if we will become recipient and in need of organ? Then why we can't take pledge as an organ donor?" The motive of the session was to aware and sensitize hospital staff and general public about organ donation.
