On 3rd March 2015 an awareness talk on organ donation was organised at Applexus Technologies, Technopark, Trivandrum. The talk was organised by the employees of Applex Technologies as part of their CSR Programme. Applexus technologies is a global provider of end to end IT services offering priced solutions in mobility, SAP, NET and JAWA. Applexus was started with the vision of serving the needy. They have a focussed approach on their CSR activities.
Ms. Saranya S, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation deputed at Trivandrum Medical College, represented KNOS and addressed the gathering. Through powerpoint presentation Ms Saranya explained about the KNOS project and its activities, Transplantation of Human Organ Act 1994, different types of donation, difference between cardiac death and brain death, brain death certification.
She spoke on which organs can be donated after brain death and cardiac death, age criteria of the donor, live display of KNOS website and registration in KNOS, explained about how organ allocation happened in Kerala through KNOS, Importance of donor card and organ donation toll free helpline etc.
At the end of the presentation a footage covered by Mathrubhumi News on cadaver donation and heart transplant in Kerala was shown to the audience. Around 20 employees participated in the awareness session. All participants pledged their organs by picking the donor card.
