Organ-Tissue Donation Sensitization Session at LIC-India, Nagpur Divisional Office

  • On August 2, 2024, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct a sensitization session on organ and tissue donation for the staff members of LIC-India at the Nagpur Divisional Office. The session was warmly welcomed by SDM Shri Mallik Uchhaba, who presented floral bouquets to MOHAN Foundation representatives Mr. Devang Chhaya and Ms. Veena Wathore. OS Mr. Fernandez Sebastian provided introductory remarks on the subject.

    Mr. Devang Chhaya, a MOHAN Foundation Ambassador, began the discussion with an overview of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA) of 1994, including its revisions. He highlighted key clauses of the act that regulate the removal, storage, and transplantation of human organs and tissues and emphasize the prohibition of commercial transactions involving human organs. Mr. Chhaya also introduced the concept of organ donation to patients awaiting organ transplants and showcased a YouTube video about bilateral hand transplantation, which engaged and impressed the audience.

    Ms. Veena Wathore addressed various questions from the audience, providing detailed answers to their queries. Mr. Bulu Behera distributed pledge forms, informational pamphlets, and helpline stickers to the attendees, further supporting the cause of organ donation.

    The session was a valuable opportunity to enhance awareness and understanding of organ and tissue donation among LIC-India staff members.
