On 17th April, 2022, a blood donation camp was held at Smt. Kasturba Nimchand Shah P. Muthyalu Chetty Vivekananda Vidyalaya Junior College in Perambur. MOHAN Foundation was invited to speak to the blood donors about organ donation. Mr. Shanth Ragul Raj. N Project Executive – Education, MOHAN Foundation arranged an information desk with information brochures, standees, green ribbons and donor cards. The organ donation camp was held in conjunction with other camps such as those for blood donations and eye donations etc.
The formal inauguration program started at 9.00 am. K.E.Srinivasan, B.A, Correspondent, SKNS P M C Vivekananda Vidyalaya, started the event with his welcome speech. Dr. P. Tamilmani, Chief Civil Surgeon, Blood Bank Medical Officer, Government of Royapettah Hospital, Chennai, and Mr. Alagesan, Assistant Commissioner, P1 Pulianthope Police Station, honored the event as a Chief Guests. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Smt. K. Sujatha, M.Sc., M.Ed., M. Phil, Principal, SKNS P M C Vivekananda Vidyalaya.
Participants of the camps were student’s parents, relatives and staff of the institution. Many people visited the information desk. Queries asked by were about whether the body is returned after retrieval of organs, was the body disfigured, who gets the organs, do poor people also get transplants? All queries were answered. A total of 133 members took part in the event and more than 20 people pledged their organs including the staff of the institution. Mr Ragul helped them to register online through this laptop at the information desk.
