Organ Donation awareness talk at the inauguration of Agni Siragagul, the social entrepreneurship club at Anna University

  • AGNI SIRAGAGUL, the social entrepreneurship club of Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), Anna University, Guindy invited MOHAN Foundation for an awareness programme on 22nd February 2017.  It was the inaugural event of their club and the members wanted to begin with Organ Donation as their first project.

    The guests were Prof. A. Vijaya Kumar, Founder of INDIA Trust; S. Senthur Pari of Chennai Stays; Dr. S Arulchelvan, NSS Head of Anna University; and Dr. Hemal Kanvinde of MOHAN Foundation. Dr. Ravi Kumar, Director of CED – Anna University was the main motivator for the event. Mrs. Rani Ravindran and Mrs. Jayashree from Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE) were also invited as guests.

    Green ribbons were given to the students, faculty and guests at the beginning of the programme. A video showing how Tamil Nadu is leading ahead in Organ Donation was played to motivate the students.

    Dr. Ravi Kumar started with a speech on starting a social entrepreneurship programme in their campus for 4 days commencing on 23rd February 2017.  This was followed by Prof. A. Vijaya Kumar who explained the concept of Social Entrepreneurship in detail to the students so that the students of the college can start social activities aggressively which would help India.

    Then the opportunity was given to Dr. Hemal Kanvinde to speak on Organ Donation. She started with the activities of MOHAN Foundation and the purpose of its conception. She explained each and every aspect of Organ Donation to make the topic clear to the participants. The important topics discussed were about BRAIN DEATH and step by step process for transplantation of organs from a donor to a recipient.

    At the end of the programme a poem on Organ Donation was given to the host to read out to the gathering so that they could understand the importance of Organ Donation. A video of a donor was played which made everyone decide to become an organ donor to help everyone who requires it.

    There were around 115 students who participated in the programme and everyone picked up donor card to support organ donation. In addition the State bank of India put up a stall to explain the online transaction and e-buddy app.

    MOHAN Foundation thanks Dr Ravi Kumar, Director CED, Anna University for giving an opportunity to reach out to many students and wishes Agni Siragagul a success in all its projects.
