Organ Donation awareness session conducted for NCC Cadets of DNC College, Nagpur

  • On 26th February 2022, during the NCC gathering program, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation for NCC cadets of DNC College, Congress Nagar, Nagpur.

    Mr. Suprabhat Nagore, Associate NCC Officer (ANO) of DNC College, coordinated this session. Ms. Prarthana thanked all the dignitaries and started the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its activities.

    She then started her presentation by asking the audience about what do they think about organ donation?

    After the audience gave their opinion, she briefly discussed about the below topics on organ donation

    1. Concept of organ donation?
    2. Types of donors?
    3. Who can donate?
    4. Types of death- Brain death and Circulatory death
    5. THOA Act- 1994 was explained in detail.
    6. Myths and Facts about organ donation was discussed.
    7. Process of skin, body and eye donation was explained.
    8. MOHAN Foundation’s Helpline number was displayed to the audience.

     

    Questions asked by the audience were as follows:

    • What is waiting list?
    • Procedure of Whole body donation?
    • Can an old deceased person donate his eyes?

     

    178 NCC Cadets attended the session and 88 cadets pledged their organs. They thanked Ms. Prarthana for conducting a meaningful concept about organ donation.

     

    We thank Mr. Suprabhat Nagore and DNC College staff for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
