  • On October 7, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation’s Transplant Coordinator, Mr. Bulu J. Behera, was invited by Dr. Mayank Gadkari, the Administrative Officer of Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Digdoh, Hingna, Nagpur, to set up an organ donation and transplantation stall at the Eye OPD. Mr. Behera managed the stall with the help of donor cards, brochures, banners, standees, and helpline pamphlets. The stall provided visitors with vital information on organ donation, including the differences between coma and brain death, natural death and brain death, and the types of organs and tissues that can be donated in each case. The stall also clarified the age limit for organ donation, factors affecting transplant timing, and legal and ethical procedures for organ donation and transplantation. Additionally, information was shared about the Organ Transplant Act of 1994, and organizations like NOTTO, ROTTO, SOTTO, and ZTCC. Visitors asked several important questions, such as the head of the MOHAN Foundation, the lifespan of recipients after a transplant, and government provisions for organ transplants. Approximately 35 visitors attended the stall, and 2 individuals signed consent forms to pledge their organs. The MOHAN Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mayank Gadkari for his support of this noble cause.
