On December 19, 2024, the Rotary Club Rishikesh Divas invited MOHAN Foundation to set up an information desk to promote organ donation at a blood donation and physiotherapy camp held at City Max Spine and Knee Injuries Centre, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The invitation was extended by Ms. Tanu Jain, President of the Club, and Dr. Sandeep Raina, Physiotherapist at the Centre and a Member of Rotary Club Rishikesh.
The event included a voluntary blood donation camp, a physiotherapy camp, and an awareness-raising session on organ donation. Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader at MOHAN Foundation, stationed at AIIMS Rishikesh, managed the information desk. The desk attracted hospital staff, Rotary Club members, blood camp volunteers, blood donors, and patients, who asked various questions such as:
• What is the difference between coma and brain death?
• How long can eyes be donated after death, and why?
• Is it possible for a family to donate only the eyes?
• Does the MOHAN Foundation helpline operate 24/7?
• Can the organ donation form be filled out online, and what are the steps?
All queries were addressed at the desk, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on organ donation were distributed to participants.
Approximately 12 individuals visited the information desk, and three filled out the pledge form on the NOTTO website.
