On October 22, 2024, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an Organ Donation Ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, set up an Organ Donation Information Desk at a Blood Donation Camp organized by the Vagator–Caisua Taxi Owners Association in collaboration with KALJI and the Goa Medical College Blood Bank, Bambolim. The camp took place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
A total of 32 individuals registered for blood donation, out of which 26 were eligible to donate, while 6 were unable to do so.
During the event, Mr. Gabriel informed the Association’s spokesperson that a dedicated organ donation awareness session would be conducted soon. Smt. Delilah Michael Lobo, MLA for the Siolim Assembly constituency, attended the camp and commended the taxi owners for their initiative, stating that it could serve as an example for other taxi associations in Goa. She also highlighted the importance of organ donation and requested Mr. Gabriel to conduct a larger session for the community.
Mr. Gabriel distributed approximately 40 FAQ booklets and engaged with attendees, discussing the importance of organ donation and encouraging them to pledge their support.
As a result, four individuals signed up as organ donors.
