Organ Donation Information Desk at Blood Donation Camp, Pilar, Goa

Updated on Sunday, December 1, 2024
  • On November 18, 2024, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an Organ Donation Ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, set up an Organ Donation Information Desk at a Blood Donation Camp organized by Our Lady of Pilar Church (Society of Pilar) in collaboration with Caring Souls and the Goa Medical College Blood Bank. The camp ran from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

The Society of the Missionaries of St. Francis Xavier, commonly known as the Society of Pilar, commemorates the 97th death anniversary of Ven. Agnelo with a novena—a nine-day event culminating on November 20, 2024.

The blood donation camp was held on the eighth day of the novena in the Our Lady of Pilar Church Hall. Parishioners who attended Mass earlier in the day actively participated by donating blood. Gabriel Pereira distributed around 60 FAQs on organ donation and engaged attendees in meaningful discussions about its importance, motivating them to pledge their support for the cause.

The camp saw a turnout of approximately 52 individuals, of whom 43 were eligible to donate blood, while 9 could not. Additionally, four individuals pledged to donate their organs, marking a significant step toward promoting organ donation awareness.
