At the Organ Donation Information Desk at BITS Pilani Goa Campus in Zuarinagar, Goa, on April 14, 2024, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an organ donation ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, established a presence during the "BE ACTIVE FOR YOUR KIDNEYS" event. This event was organized by Manipal Hospital, Goa, in collaboration with the Health and Wellness Committee of GCCI, BITS Pilani Goa Campus, IMA Goa State, and Vasco Cycling Club.
The event drew the participation of over 118 cyclists who completed a 12.5 km route from BITS to the Airport and back. Additionally, approximately 115 walking enthusiasts traversed a 5 km path within the scenic BITS Goa KK Birla Campus.
The energetic activities commenced with a flag-off by Professor Suman Kundu, Director of BITS Goa, and Mr. Nitin Kuncoleinkar, Ex-President of GCCI, alongside the presence of Dr. Ajit Vaidya, President of IMA Mormugao. Dr. Amol Mahaldar provided a succinct overview of common myths and tips regarding kidney health.
Mr. Gabriel Pereira elucidated on organ donation, highlighting the importance of consenting to organ donation and detailing which organs or tissues can be donated after death. He distributed approximately 100 flyers containing frequently asked questions about organ donation.
