Under the auspices of AIIMS Rishikesh, the MOHAN Foundation set up an information desk promoting organ donation at the eye camp held in Anand Ashram, Tapovan, Rishikesh Uttarakhand in association with Rishikesh Eye Bank, Department of Ophthalmology, AIIMS Rishikesh & Akhil Bhartiya Marwadi Mahila Sangathan, Rishikesh on May 28, 2024.
The invitation had been extended by Ms. Nutan Aggrawal, Chairperson of Akhil Bhartiya Marwadi Mahila Sangathan, Rishikesh and Organ Donation Ambassador of MOHAN Foundation.
Akhil Bhartiya Marwadi Mahila Sangathan, Rishikesh participates in a variety of service projects, including organizing Blood Donation Camps, Eye Checkup Camps, Health Checkup Camps, and spreading awareness for organ donation & body donation, which have been regular activities for many years.
The program included general health check-up, eye check-up, distribution of medicines, and raising awareness for organ donation.
Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader-MF, stationed at AIIMS Rishikesh, had set up an information desk where ashram volunteers, eye camp beneficiaries, members of Akhil Bhartiya Marwadi Mahila Sangathan raised numerous queries:
• Who can be an organ donor?
• What is brain death?
• What are corneas?
• How many organs can be donated?
• Is there any facility for liver, kidney & hand transplant in AIIMS Rishikesh or Uttarakhand?
• What is the use of an organ donor card?
• Is it possible to fill out the pledge form offline?
• What is the procedure for body donation?
• Can someone sell their organs?
• Is it possible to donate my organs after my death to only a particular religion?
• What is the role of MOHAN Foundation? Do they provide organs as well?
• Is there any helpline number of MOHAN Foundation?
• Does MOHAN Foundation have its own cornea retrieval team?
All queries were addressed at the desk, and frequently asked questions (FAQs) on organ donation were distributed.
Close to 25 participants had visited the information desk.
