On 11th September 2021, MFJCF was invited to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation and transplantation by the Rotary Club Jaipur Pearl via Facebook Live. The speakers for the talk were Mr. Ravi Kamra and Mrs. Renu Singh.
Rotarian and member of MFJCF, Mr. Sanjay Kaushik welcomed the audience and introduced the subject of organ donation by giving example of the first ever organ transplant recipient from mythology, Lord Ganesha. He also moderated the session.
Mr. Ravi Kamra started the session by introducing MFJCF and how MFJCF was formed in Rajasthan. Mrs Renu Singh then talked about how she got associated with MFJCF after donating her mother’s organs.
During the live Mr Sanjay Kaushik asked various questions related to organ donation from the panellists. Some of these questions include:
1. What is the difference between organ donation and body donation?
2. Importance of pledging of organs
3. How can one donate organs after brain death occurs?
The talk was then directed towards the importance of spreading awareness about organ donation. By citing Mrs Renu Singh’s case, Mr Kamra said at the time of her mother’s death, Mrs Renu had only heard about eye donation so she called up the related resource person, but after meeting Mrs. Bhavna Jagwani and getting to know about organ donation, her family opted for organ donation and donated all of her mother’s organs.
The panellists continued to talk about the importance of organ donation and highlighted the Angdata Smarak and the thought process behind the conception of the Smarak.
The talk ended with the speakers urging the audience to spread word about organ donation, as one dying life could potentially save the lives of nine people.
The Facebook Live received 128 views. MFJCF is thankful for Rotary Club Jaipur Pearl for organizing the talk.
