On 17th December 2020, an online awareness session on organ donation was conducted for the II year social work students of Matru Sewa Sangh Institute of Social Work, Bajaj Nagar in Nagpur. Ms. Jyoti Niswade, Principal of the college had organized the event and Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation was the speaker.
After introducing MOHAN Foundation and its activities, Mr. Behera shared information about the concepts and process of organ donation; organ and tissues that can be donate and need for spreading awareness about organ donation. He then went on to discuss some of the common myths that deter the public from committing to the cause of organ donation. He also shared a few donor and recipient stories.
Mr. Behera also invited the participants to join MOHAN Foundation volunteer and ambassador program. He gave information details of the toll-free organ donation helpline number 18001037100 and donor card link was also shared.
25 students were present and 11 of them pledged to donate organs.
