REPORT:
MOHAN Foundation presented an awareness talk on “Organ Donation” for the police personnel at Tamil Nadu Police Academy on 08.06.2010 (Tuesday). Ms. Sujatha Sooriyamoorthy, Transplant Coordinator, explained the concept of organ donation, legal procedures involved, age criteria, and the importance of promoting this concept. The contribution of the police department was also highlighted during the presentation. The participants raised queries regarding organ sharing and allocation, costs involved in transplantation, legal issues involved in live related and unrelated organ donation, and confidentiality. 63 members who had come for a Refresher course in TNPA took part in the session.
Mr. Abhash Kumar, IGP Training, TNPA, Mr. Mohan, SP (Admin), Mr. Arumugasamy, DSP were very supportive and interested in this noble cause. They motivated their entire team and inspired all 63 personnel present to pledge for organ donation and take a donor card. The programme was very effective and made a huge impact on the participants. The next session for another batch of police personnel is going to be held on 28.06.2010 at TNPA.
