Organ Donation Awareness for Medical and Nursing Students of Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital

  • On 4th August 2021, MFJCF was invited to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation and transplantation for the medical and nursing students of Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital in Udaipur. Geetanjali Hospital recently obtained the license for organ retrieval and transplantation. 

    The speakers during the occasion were Dr Suneet Ranawat (Registrar, Rajasthan Medical Council), Mr. P C Jain, Mr Govind Gurbani, Mr Aryan Mathur, Mrs Bhavana Jagwani and Dr Hansika Parwani members of MFJCF. Dr Prateem Tamboli, CEO of Geetanjali Hospital welcomed all the participants and introduced the MFJCF team as the session kicked off. 

    Mr P C Jain started the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and MFJCF. He then talked about:

    • Organ donation and its need
    • When and how does organ donation take place
    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death

    Dr Ranawat then talked about brain death and the difference between brain death and coma. Mr Aryan Mathur then talked about the legal aspects of organ donation and brain death and myths associated with organ donation. Mr Govind Gurbani talked about adding the organ donor logo on driving license. 

    Towards the end Mrs Bhavana Jagwani shared stories about organ donor families and how the first organ donation in Rajasthan took place. Dr Hansika then concluded the session after introducing the courses offered by MOHAN Foundation related to organ donation and transplantation.
