MOHAN Foundation conducted an Organ Donation awareness talk for Fire Service and Rescue station staff at Ambattur Industrial Estate on June 09, 2023. 20 staff participated in the session.
Ms. Arshiya Fathima. H (Helpline counsellor) & Mr. Shanth Ragul (Project Executive - Education) were the resource persons for the session. Ms. Arshiya began the session with an introduction to MOHAN Foundation. She spoke of the need for organs, what and when donation can happen. She explained brain death - causes. The difference between brain death and coma. She spoke of tissue and voluntary body donation and also explained the myths & scams on Organ Donation. She also gave information on the free service of Organ Donation Helpline 1800 103 7100.
Mr. Ragul explained about the courses and the registration process and Mr. Ragul and Ms. Arshiya answered all the queries.
The participants raised a few queries about:
1. Brain transplanted
2. Can deceased donor organ be given to family member?
3. Explanation on Swap Transplant
4. Ear transplantation
