On 8th March 2020, Mohan Foundation was invited by Dr Rekha Devadiga for giving awareness about the Organ Donation on the occasion Women’s Day Celebration at Devadiga Centre, Dadar Mumbai.
Dr Jimmy held an awareness session and introduced Mohan Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. She introduced the concept of Organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was new topic for the public. She also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home which caught attention of the crowd. She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor which was somewhat familiar to the gathering. She also explained about the religious barrier and myths related to organ donation.
About 50 women attended the awareness session. About 8 took pledge and few pledges were filled online.
