An awareness session on organ donation was conducted at PC Jabin College on 14th December 2021. Mr. Bhal Shekhar Chilana of Cause Travellers was the chief guest for the event. Mr. Bhal Shekhar Chilana and his wife, Mrs. Namita Dutta of the Cause Travelers have been on a road trip across India, creating awareness among public and at educational institutions about the cause.
Around 80 students of the college attended the session. Ms Sheetal Mundada Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation, Mr. Manoj Naik of Jeevasarthakathe and Mr. Chilana addressed the audience during the occasion.
Ms. Sheetal began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission and vision, and the concept of organ donation. Mr. Manoj touched upon the transplant law, the importance of a donor card, myths and facts, and barriers to organ donation.
Mr. Chilana continued to talk about the importance of organ donation and stressed upon the importance of carrying a donor card. He briefly explained about living donation by giving an example of his own daughter being a kidney recipient and his son-in-law a donor, both of whom are successfully leading a healthy life.
Students shared positive feedback and appreciated the work of MOHAN Foundation and the Cause Travellers. 58 members supported the cause and pledged for organ donation. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to the Management of PC Jabin College for organising the event.
