Organ Donation Awareness at Super Specialty Hospital, Nagpur

  • On 15th April 2019, Dr. Milind Phulpatil, Special Duty In-charge of Super Specialty Hospital, Nagpur invited MOHAN Foundation to organize an awareness session in the hospital premises. An information stall decked with banners and standees was set up by Mr Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator who was present with information brochures and donor cards.

    Many outpatients visited the stall and the following information was provided:

    • Types of death
    • What organs can be donated after brain death, natural death and while living
    • Where is the waiting list available for organ failure patient and how to register in it
    • Who can donate organs and what is the value of a donor card
    • MOHAN Foundation activities
    • Helpline number and MOHAN Foundation website

    Around 40 patients and their relatives visited the stall. After understanding about organ donation, 3 patients signed consent forms and received donor cards a few others informed that they will sign consent forms after discussing with their family.

    • Whom to contact for organ donation?
    • What is apnea test?
    • What difference between natural death & brain death?
