MOHAN Foundation was invited by Shri Vaari Electricals to deliver an awareness talk on Organ Donation for their employees on November 17th, 2018 at Guindy Industrial Estate, Chennai. The programme started around 05:00 pm and lasted for an hour.
T S Siva Shankar (Helpline Executive, MOHAN Foundation), Mr. Arun Jose and Ms. Kaviya (Interns from Madras Medical Mission) were the resource people. Mr. Siva Shankar spoke on various topics that included organ donation concepts, organs that can be donated, importance of organ donation, and requested the audience to register themselves as donors.
MOHAN Foundation also set up a display using the models of organs that were modelled using ashes of dead individuals. This ‘Life Before Ashes’ display helped the staff understand the reality that lies behind organ donation.
The display helped in conveying the message of organ donation very succinctly. A total of 100 employees participated in the session and almost 40 people registered as organ donors. It was an interactive session where numerous queries were raised by the audience and Mr. Siva Shankar answered them.
